The Third Most Important Step to Connecting To Your Inner Voice
In this week, I continue with my final tip to tune your inner Voice by yourself: JOURNAL
Meditate
Walk
Journal
Some of you may know how to journal from your childhood; it was quite popular when I grew up. I did not get in the habit of writing when I was a kid; maybe this is why it took me so long to realize the positive outcomes of writing!
During my healing journey, there was a time that I was ashamed of myself. I could not talk about what was going on in my life with my friends, or even with my dear family. I was taking healing sessions, hiding them from everyone (now I understand my secret clients!) and I needed to find a way to communicate my truth.
There I started writing; I was writing, writing and writing. It seemed to be the only place where I could be completely honest with myself… After a short time, I realized the effects, how I start writing and how I end, it was similar to walking. I start with heavy feelings and end up with hope and clarity.
"When you can tell your story, and it doesn't make you cry, you know you have healed."
- David Wolfe
Over the years, it became one of my favorite tools for self-healing, clarity, and balance. Here are the top 3 questions from the beautiful people I have worked with on journaling...
1. What should I write?
There is no structure, agenda or target. All you need to do is take a pen and journal and start writing. From my experience, usually the first 2 paragraphs you write are shallow, it is just what is on the surface, just keep writing. After 2 good pages, you will be surprised to see what you realized about the topic from where you started.
2. When should I write?
Again, there is no structure! I like to write in the morning when I start my day, so I dump out all the busy thoughts in my mind and start afresh for the day. Try morning and evening and simply pick the one you like :)
3. What should I do with what I write?
Nothing! The purpose here is to realize what is in the unconscious mind (yes, it really does all come out in 2-3 pages). When you finish you will have clarity and self-realization. Self-development starts with realizing the issue and being mindful of what is going on.
So, just write and continue with your day :)
If you are reading this as it's released it is a Monday morning, you are probably either on your way to the office or in the office. You might think ‘but I can’t take a pen and notepad and write in the office’. I totally understand nobody wants to look weird in the office ;)
I have a secret folder on my laptop: Self-Talk folder. I start my office day with a nice coffee or tea, open a new word doc and take 5 minutes writing…
Maybe today is the day for you to start your Self-Talk folder and try it immediately after reading this post!
