“May love find you when you least expect, where you least expected."

It was July 2017. I was flying from Istanbul to Luxembourg, after my first visit home since moving away. It was time to go back to my lonely life, to my demanding job and never happy manager in Luxembourg.

In the airport, I was looking for books to read on the plane and somehow I bought a book that I read 2 times before! I had an intuitive hit that I needed to read it again. As I started the reading the book, I found myself underlining the phrase, “May love find you when you least expect, where you least expected”. I thought that was such a nice wish for anyone and something I had stopped wishing for myself.

I read the book again and realised that I had originally only understood the love story or the surface of the book. On reading it again I could see that there was a much deeper level to understand and it led to a lot of self-reflection. The rules and teachings of love, the world of Rumi came back into my life again.

Since that day, this book has become a staple on my bedside table and is one I have to turned often especially on nights when I felt alone and hurt and that my heart chakra needs healing. All the teachings within this book have been so valuable, so true, so simple but so hard! As Rumi says, we do not need to search for love outside of ourselves. All we need to do is understand and eliminate the barriers that we have built inside.

This may seem like a simple concept but it’s not an easy one to action. Either we don’t know how to look at the barriers inside or we don’t know how to eliminate them.

Your task is not to seek love.png

There have been times when I was so sure about love, but my heart was an idiot and I needed to suffer. Often when my love cannot see even the simple things and cannot understand how they hurt me (I’m saying 4, he’s saying 3!) this led to more hurt, blame and tears…

During these times, I try to remember the main principle behind the book which is that it is easy to love the idea of a perfect God, however it is difficult to love our fellow human beings with all their imperfections and defects. Unless we learn to love God’s creation (ourselves and our fellow human beings), then we can neither truly love nor truly know God.

This week is a special week for my heart’s journey (you might see why on my IG or FB this Friday! Make sure you are following me to see what’s happening! 😃)

I have done a lot of self-reflection on my heart’s journey; sent lots of prayers to Rumi, for the teaching of Love.

If you have heard about Rumi (perhaps you know some of his famous quotes) but don’t know where to start. Or if you have started ‘The Masnavi’ and quit along the way, or if you are looking for a nice story to heal your heart and soul then I recommend reading “40 Rules of Love” by Elif Shafak.

Even if you have read this book before, I really recommend re-reading it and allowing yourself to go one level deeper into the meaning behind the words and allowing your heart to open more to love.

This book has been transformational in helping me heal my heart so much!

It is a must read for all my clients as they start their healing journey. For some people it resonates immediately but with others I have found them coming back to me months later saying, “I re-read the book, now I feel it, it is the right time”.

I wish you all find the courage to look within at the inner blocks that keeps our hearts far from love this November! I don’t just mean love in the romantic sense but all forms of love – love to animals, love to self, love to friends, love to nature and love to the Creator! And for love to find us where we least expect…

With Love,
Gül
