How To Re-Centre Your Energy With Gratitude
Greetings from the magical land of Bali!
This month I will spend a couple of weeks here as part of my sabbatical. Actually, I was planning to skip writing a newsletter this week, as I spend so much time observing, thinking, connecting and usually in a highly emotional state! I guess traveling, news about Coronavirus, discovering and accepting yourself and others is triggering the mood swings in my daily job. In my corporate days, at least I had to look stable; I do not have to look proper during the day now 🙂
I thought there was nothing useful to share for me this week. At that exact moment, I felt a strong intuition to share the basic things I did to balance myself last 2 weeks. Sometimes we push ourselves so much for perfection. However, even the simplest of things change lives. Therefore, I want to share what I did to balance my rollercoaster of emotions.
Gratitude Exercises
When I find myself thinking my small daily life problems are big issues, my favorite activity is gratitude. After doing it all these years, it turned in to a habit of mine. I have 3 favorite methods; depending on where I am physically at that time I pick one of the following:
I journal the 10 things I am grateful for right now
I read about this exercise in a couple of personal development books, you journal the things that you are grateful for in your life. It could be my health, time, food and sometimes even my hair! There is no agenda, no need to look good, you just write down all the big or small things that you want to thank the universe for at that time of your life.
Gratitude is the main issue in all religions. We all know the importance of it, we like to talk about it. However, we actually skip doing it as a daily habit. When I say this to my clients, they always say it is so easy; however, they only see the effect when they actually do it! Keeping this practice every day helps you to stay positive and balance your energy. In addition, when you write down, you realize your real state rather than your mind's constant blame state. It is a very simple way to get out of a depressed mood. It also helps you to be motivated. Every time I journal, I find new motivation to start taking action on something rather than killing time with social media or tv.
I do a Gratitude Meditation
If I am in a place where I can meditate or if I forgot my notepad, then I use a simple meditation for gratitude (my favorite method for gratitude is writing). When I do my daily meditation, I thank the Universe for my health, my organs and my feelings in every chakra. I imagine I’m clearing them with light and send my gratitude to the universe for this exercise.
On this note, I’d love to welcome our 87 new joiners to my community, and invite you to listen to my free meditation to balance your energy here.
I load an object with gratitude & touch it when I need it most
This is a joyful exercise. In each travel, I keep a small object to use for gratitude. Some people always use their item and use it all the time. I have one in my apartment that is there all the time as well, however when I travel I like to pick different objects to turn it to a joyful game. Sometimes it is a crystal, sometimes a sea shell, it could be even a leaf. Just pick any object you like for that day. What we do is, we touch the object (hold it in your palm) and say thank you for the things that you are grateful for. I sometimes combine 1 and 3, I journal my list than I read it to the object. By this way I load my energy to the object and it gives me back universal support and energy when I need the most.
For this travel, I am using a little crystal that was gifted by Noah before my travels. Noah is my special little brother, a soulmate who made me a healer! He is the first person that I started working with! I never thought I could do it as a part of my life. He and is mum Sabrina believed in me when I was not believing in myself. Therefore, when he gave me this beautiful crystal, I knew what I need to carry with me during my 2 months break. Every time I meditate, I use this stone in my palms and anytime I lost my balance, it returns my hope and energy!
Having a gratitude object really works; I highly recommend getting one today! Maybe it is a piece from nature or you child’s little toy. Just look around today with an open heart, I am sure you will see yours.
For this week, I wanted to share these simple gratitude exercises. I find myself repeating them and the more I repeat the more they gave me things to be grateful for. I hope by the end of this week you find your list getting longer by seeing the world through a different lens.
