Sharing my Full Moon Ritual to Release the Old and Call in the New
This week I send you my greetings from Ubud, Bali! I have just landed here and will stay 3 weeks in a deep healing journey. I will attend an anatomy class for healers and I’m excited to learn each organ one by one, I will share my journey through my social media accounts. If you are not following, here are my links: Instagram | Facebook | LinkedIn
We attended a unique remote island retreat experience with a digital detox for a week in the Philippines. It is called a Tao experience, I realized it was a popular experience within millennials and I am clearly not a millennial or hipster 😉
When I see how they described themselves - the picture below, I was not sure if this experience was for me. However, I can say, it was a once in a lifetime experience for me, and it helped me to tune into nature and myself in different ways…
I had the chance to spend my nights just watching the stars and the moon. On a full moon night, there I was practicing my rituals this time under stars and I realized I can also share what I do for a full moon with you!
How it started...
Almost 5 years ago, one of my friends gave me her book on the Shamanic people of Anatolia, I started to read it on a summer vacation with my girlfriends. However, later on, it became a source of my research on Shamans, remembering my roots and understanding why my grandmothers were practicing some rituals without even knowing what they were. The book was written by a professor, he was researching the Shamans of Anatolia before the monotheist period.
I learned that the female Shaman healers were relying on the healing power of the moon, they were practicing moon ceremonies and they were gathering in Moon houses. Moon house was the official name of the healing houses. Then, I started to read more about the moon and her cycles and remembered another book that I read: Brida by Paulo Coelho. Here it also talks about Moon ceremonies, this time used by witches.
After reading various books and articles, I was convinced on the healing energy of the moon, however I was not practicing anything or paying attention to full moons. I started practicing whenever I noticed the full moon over the last 2 years and now I am luckier than ever. My beautiful client Brian follows astrology and he informs me when it is full moon through inspiring messages (🙏🏼 my deep gratitude to Brian!)
What do I do during a Full Moon?
There are many explanations of a full moon. I am not an astrologist and to be honest I do not follow what they say each time. For me, a full moon represents a powerful energy to LET GO and INITIATE CHANGE! Here is my personal retreat;
What do I want to LET GO of in this period of my life?
I do my mini rituals in the evening, when beautiful moon is up there. I always light a candle (better with fire on the beach if you can J) and take a paper and write in capital letters: I LET GO OF… than I add the things I want to let go of… Sometimes I have one particular topic in mind, sometimes a list. I like to focus on what is going on in my life rather than a general list. After completing my writing (usually 2 full sides of the page), I burn the paper.
I literally burn the paper and I imagine I release all the things I want to let go of with the fire (When I do this at home, it is hard to burn all the paper, so I burn a symbolic piece to see the effect of the fire).
What do I want to start – time to INITIATE CHANGE
The moon completes a cycle and her new cycle starts after a full moon. For me it represent a strong energy to channel initiating change in my life. After burning the paper, I take my journal and start writing what I want to start. With no agenda, I write what is possible…
Now time to connect with the energy of the moon!
I just close my eyes, pick a nice piece of meditation music and do a short meditation to tune in to the energy of the moon. I imagine I go up to the moon, channel this magnificent energy, clean, and balance my aura. If you cannot channel without guided meditation, you can use my free meditation; just imagine you go up to the moon in the beginning 🙂
Last year we did a group meditation event in the full moon, it was so powerful, I want to use this opportunity to say thank you to Lokum for organizing the event and all the people that joined me that magical night! We are so much more powerful when we meditate together!
