Lessons: I left my corporate "comfort zone" and started my own business
After almost 15 years of a corporate career, I left my corporate job last Friday!
It's my first week of self-employment this week and it's come with mixed emotions.
It started with a little step last year…moving from full time to part-time employment.
It was a big shift for me and I was expecting to keep it this way for couple of years. I was planning to keep this balance between corporate employment and my healing business for couple of years, and some highlights made me find courage to step up…
1. You are not stuck, your fears are holding you.
When I was exploring the idea of leaving my corporate job, I was always scared about losing the income. I am used to work with a fixed salary — I did not know any other way.
My biggest fear was around money (like most of the people). Therefore, I needed to work on my fears related to money. I realized that some of my money fears were even generational, passing from one generation to another and getting stronger. My father became bankrupted when he tried the entrepreneurial journey...and he got it together by going back to his corporate job. Working on my fears around this childhood trauma was needed before making any move myself.
We all have fears that are keeping us on the jobs that we do not see any purpose and satisfaction. Good news is you are not alone and there is nothing wrong with you. Greater news is, fears can be shifted or their affect is diminished when you dare to look at them, even the oldest ones.
2. When you do the internal shifts, external shifts always come at the right time
To be honest, the biggest thing I have done was to work on my fears rather than any business plan or marketing for this transition.
The more I worked on what was holding me back, the more clarity I got. This vortex energy resulted in expansion in my healing business. Last year, I shared that I was working on my fears related to LOVE and it opened my heart in so many ways — even resulted in marriage 🙏.
After that, I put my focus on my fears around leaving the comfort of corporate. This ultimately resulted in my resignation. The story is the same, I keep writing about it… Trying to change the external factors without realizing the internal issues only brings the healing back around again.
Profound changes happen when we do the inner work... internal shifts eventually shift the external factors.
3: Sometimes you need time to digest your decision
I admire people who decide something and make a bold move immediately. Unfortunately, I am not one of them. I have turned my life upside down over last decade, however, not one of those experiences was due to a moment of realization.
I realize — then I start releasing. During this time, I need to digest my decision, my inabilities, my dreams. I need time to digest…Last year, I worked or met with great coaches/healers, however I did not follow their advice. Most told me to leave my corporate job after I had clients…It took me longer, because I needed to work on the fears one by one and make a decision when I was ready.
There is a difference between procrastination & staying in comfort zone and taking the time to digest your decision. In my experience, procrastination comes with victim mode and excuses (the result of not working on your fears), whereas digestion comes with leap of faith and trust. So let your intuition and faith guide you.
4: Get support, you don’t need to do it alone, invest in your dreams
On a transformation journey, you would need support and accountability mechanisms…No one does it alone. I am working with other coaches for their business, as I work with coaches for my business.
I work with healers, they work with me… The most important investment you can ever do is the one that gives you a sense of purpose and alignment… Yes the self-work is the key, yet you do not need to this alone…
In this blog post, I've tried to summarize the highlights of my transition in the hope that it brings you clarity and inspiration in your own transformational journey ❤️
