Which Meditation Technique is the Best One for Me?
One of the main questions that people ask me, around meditation, is “What kind of meditations shall I use?” and ‘How do I know which technique is the right one for me?’
If you are a complete beginner to meditation then it can seem overwhelming and extremely difficult to sit for hours and think of nothing or have an “empty mind”. That’s certainly how I felt at the beginning of my meditation journey, and almost everyone I have worked with so far has experienced something similar. My advice to anyone is to remember that...
It is a habit change, and yes - that takes time!
A lot of us are not comfortable with silence, this is usually why the most outgoing people are the ones that are really lonely deep inside (I was one ☹️). If you are finding the thought of complete silence difficult then I would recommend starting out by listening to a guided meditation.
Your mind will start to race off and start making plans for shopping or mentally start replying to emails.😀 All you need to do is keep the faith, keep trying to bring your mind back to the present moment and practice, practice and practice. After some time, you will notice that you start to take an observational seat, where you detach yourself from your mind. You will just observe the thoughts coming in, and when you do not pay them attention they just fade away. You start to feel a peaceful feeling and a sense of realization of what it is that you need.
Remember that your meditation needs may change overtime. You may start meditating just by focusing on the breath and/or use a guided meditation to help you to calm the mind. After some time, believe me, you’ll find yourself just asking for divine guidance to guide you and you will hear the inner voice.
Top 5 Meditations That I Use:
My meditation practice has evolved over time. I started by adding various meditations during my daily practice, slowly increasing the time I spent in meditation by 10-20 minutes each time and with these small changes I found I had significant results. Here are some of my favourite meditation practices.
1. Energy Clearing Meditation: This is my favorite meditation of all times. You simply sit in a comfortable position and just connect with the universal energy, feel the energy in your palms, in your feet and call in this light to clear and balance you. Most of the time, your guiding angels or shaman animals visit you during this meditation; remember that miracles are there if you want to see them. Usually I feel my heart open, chest open after an energy clearing meditation and I get clear messages from my guides and I am sure you will get from yours 😀
2. Morning Meditation: I started using a simple morning meditation where I start my day by doing a ‘sun salutation’. I just say thank you to the sun, for all that it gives unconditionally and send my gratitude to all for a new day. You can use it as a guided meditation as well; by focusing on the sun and feeling the warmth spread over and in your body. This is a great one to practice in the summer by spending 3-5 minutes basking in the sun by the window, or on your balcony or garden.
3. Relaxing Evening Meditation: Some days I am booked back to with sessions, there are some day I finish at 11 pm ( I don’t advise it, unless it is your passion 😀). On those days at the end of the day, I lie down and use an evening meditation before going to sleep. The focus is to send signals to all of your body to rest during the sleep. I find it really helps me to go to sleep easily and stay settled throughout the night. I also add in a simple prayer at the start which is another great meditation technique.
4. Full Moon Meditation: This meditation is another one of my favourites therefore I am sharing this experience with everyone on the full moon days 🌕. Those days are powerful to tune into the moon energy to let go the old and initiate the new! Join the next one and test if it works for you as well! 5. Manifestation Meditation: My favorite topic to share in workshops is “7 Steps for Powerful Manifestation”. I believe that you can manifest everything you want. What you want may take some time to arrive or appear suddenly, but the journey depends on your limiting beliefs and how much intuitive action you took. This is a very deep topic but for today I want to put the focus on how you can use meditation to manifest what you want. Using this meditation technique, you focus not on what you want but rather on the feeling of the desired outcome. Let’s say you want a new home, instead of just closing your eyes and dreaming of how the home might look, you put your focus on your feelings. How would you feel living in this new home? Excitement, joy, love, security…which one is more dominant? When you picture yourself in your dream, which part of your body reacts?
Really let yourself have fun in the process and play with energy of possibility. If you are new to this type of meditation then it’s important that you start off with something small, where you may have less limiting beliefs or self-worth issues around the topic 😀. This then helps to build your confidence to work on bigger desires.
